Les Mackie
Les put up a brave fight but ultimately lost his battle with cancer on 11/3/23.
A keen shooter of many disciplines, he was determined not to let this insidious disease hinder his participation and, when chemotherapy affected his right hand to the point that he couldn't shoot a pistol, he bought a set of L/H grips and started shooting 10m from his left hand.
Hardcore.
A regular on the indoor lanes, he competed in competitions as often as possible and was a respected and much liked member, always friendly and ready to chat away.
He will be much missed.
Les leaves behind a wife and family and our hearts go out to them for their loss.
Benny Robertson
Benny (59) sadly passed away on Sunday 8th November in hospital following an illness after a fall at home some weeks
ago. He was a great supporter of both Denwood and Waulkmill and missed very few shooting days at either of the Club's shooting grounds. Due to health considerations, Benny was unable to
attend any shooting events while under the UK Covid 19 restrictions but always kept in touch with us through Colin Thomson, his closest friend.
A big man in life with just as big a heart and smile, Benny was a great guy and will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Our condolences to his family, Colin Thomson and all of Benny's friends.
God Bless you Benny and Rest in Peace.
Bob Benson
A GARC stalwart and member of many years, Bob was a regular at Denwood and Waulkmill where he would muck in with tasks for the benefit of all.
A cheery soul, always chatty, welcoming, much liked and upbeat although he could frequently be heard bemoaning his shooting prowess with his Weihrauchs - I'm sure we all have fond memories of him saying "Ah cannae hit a bloody thing tonight!"
