10m Open Pistol 2025
Return of The Paper Punchers
An "anything goes" pistol competition held on the 10m lanes. Free to enter and open to all.
30/8/25. It's Deja Vu all over again with Bri echoing Jim's score from the previous week - another 79 with a flyer in the white.
There's absolutely nothing in it with one round for Bri to go.
Should be interesting.
23/8/25. The first to five was Jim with a final round score of 79 leaving Bri with a fair bit of catching up to do.
It also means Jim enters the exclusive club that is Los Pistoleros and now has sneering rights over lesser, non pistol shooting, mortals.
8/8/25. Jim's Mito cut some very crisp holes in the cards with shots nearer the centre this week - back on track with an 80!
Top spot for him and only one round away from his Pistolero badge.
24/7/25. The diminishing returns continue with Jim shooting a 76 this week.
Obviously, neither he nor Bri got the memo about scores improving with practice.
18/7/25. There's a definite downward trend with the scores here - both Bri (74,HW40) and Jim's (78, Reximex Mito) entries this week are sloping in the wrong direction.
More practice required, I think.
30/6/25. A relative newcomer to pistol shooting, Jim put the rifles to one side this week and got stuck in on the 10m lanes with his Reximex Mito.
The resultant 80 is a very respectable first round.
21/6/25. It was a rare sunny day on the 50m range so the majority of GARCers were topping up their tans downstairs while the indoor lanes were largely deserted.
That said, Bill and Graham were finding fun fitting Allen keys into screws on an FX (maybe Fisher Price could make a brightly coloured toy out of that) while a family was having a great time with some Springers.
Less entertaining though was Bri on a 10m lane suffering a 10 point drop over his previous score.
It's too early to identify any trend here but consistently inconsistent seems appropriate.
31/5/25. The budding Pistoleros were either absent or had left their shooting irons at home leaving Bri to start the proceedings with an 86 from his HW40.
It's going to happen some day - Bri will turn up and twist arms to take part so have faith and take your pistols along. You will enjoy it. Eventially.
It should also be mentioned that there's a limited supply of the exclusive and much coveted "Los Pistoleros" badges left - first newbies to complete all five rounds are guaranteed one of these highly coveted status symbols.
Be quick because there's only four of these legendary signifiers of elite level kudos left.
